Incorporated January 1, 1806 from Mendham Township. Named after Hartshorne Fitz-Randolph who purchased 1,000 acres in 1753. NJ's first iron mine was registered here in 1713.
Revolutionary War supply point: iron mines supplied ore for tools and weapons for Washington's army wintering at nearby Jockey Hollow. Phil Silvers and Frank Sinatra performed at Randolph hotels. Boxers Max Baer and Rocky Marciano trained at the Saltz Hotel.
